What AI model does Collection Vault use?
Claude (Anthropic) and GPT-4o (OpenAI) — the same multimodal models used in leading commercial tools. All plans use the Haiku/mini tier by default (fast and cost-efficient). You can re-analyze any item at a higher tier by selecting it manually.
Do analyses carry over if I don't use them all?
No — monthly analysis credits reset on the 1st of each calendar month. They don't roll over. Re-analyses count toward your monthly total.
What happens to my data if I downgrade?
Nothing is deleted. If you downgrade to Free and have more than 50 items, you can view your full vault but cannot add new items until you're back within the plan limit. Your data is never held hostage.
How does the annual discount work?
Annual plans are billed as a single upfront payment, equivalent to about 10 months instead of 12 — saving you roughly 17%. You can cancel anytime; your plan stays active until the end of the paid period.
Can I use my own Anthropic or OpenAI API key?
Yes — in your account settings you can supply your own API key. When set, it is used for your analyses and does not consume your monthly credits.
Are AI valuations accurate?
AI estimates are a useful starting point — typically within a reasonable range for common items. For rare, graded, or high-value items, verify against recent eBay sold listings (shown automatically in every item detail) or a certified grader. They are not a substitute for professional appraisal.
